Sigurd Sabathil started building harpsichords at the tender age of 9 with his father, Simon, continuing a legacy of three generations of instrument making.

The Sabathil & Son philosophy has always been to build instruments for the musician of today. With that in mind, we use the finest modern materials in concert with the best historical features. We incorporate a light metal frame into our harpsichords, which makes them exceptionally resonant and stable, and keeps the time spent on maintenance and tuning to a minimum.

We are located on the west coast of Canada on Bowen Island, a short drive and ferry ride from Vancouver, BC. Our workshop is surrounded by 20 acres of pristine forest, the source of the 300-year-old aged Western Red Cedar used in our soundboards.

Questions about our instruments, including pricing and shipping inquiries, are always welcome by emailing Barb.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Warmly,

The Sabathils
Sigurd, Monica and Barb
